Business Service Excellence describes a fundamental shift from simply managing 'IT Services' towards a new level of business integration and the delivery of 'Business Services' that are underpinned by shared strategies, plans, goals and objectives.

An increasing number of IT Service Providers have adopted best practices such as ITIL®, COBIT® and the ISO/IEC 20000 international standard for IT Service Management in order to more effectively manage their information and communications technology. Few, however, have considered the integration of these IT initiatives with the broader business excellence and quality frameworks that are commonly used to improve performance excellence and drive ongoing business results.
